What the seal means for you

The Certified Microplastic-Free seal identifies products whose exposed surfaces, the parts that contact skin, mouths, food, or beverages, have been independently reviewed against the published standard and found free of plastics and other microplastic-forming materials.

What the seal does mean

• The manufacturer has gone through a documentation-based review of materials and contact surfaces.
• The exposed surfaces of the certified product meet the published criteria: they are free of plastics and other microplastic-forming materials.
• The product is subject to ongoing requirements for change notifications and renewal.

What the seal does not promise

• It is not a guarantee that no microplastics will ever be present in or around the product.
• It is not a medical claim and does not replace advice from health professionals.
• It does not certify anything outside the defined scope of the standard for that product type.

How to verify a claim

Every certified product carries a certificate number. If you see the Certified Microplastic-Free seal on a product, you can confirm it on our verification page and find it in our certified products directory.

Use our verification page to check a certificate number, or browse the certified products directory. If a product displays the seal but cannot be verified, contact us at info@microfree.org.
